Our corporate finance team joined this year’s Dubai SME Finance Forum to talk debt advisory and growth funding alongside banks, alternative lenders and fellow advisors from across the UAE.
The panel discussion centred on a theme we hear constantly from clients: SMEs often approach lenders too late, after the need for financing has already become urgent, which weakens their negotiating position. Our advice on stage was consistent with what we tell clients in engagements – build the lender relationship and the financial reporting discipline well before you need the capital.
We also shared a short case study on how a mid-sized trading client restructured its working capital financing to fund a 40% increase in inventory ahead of a seasonal peak, without diluting equity.
